Denim Days Are Here

First, did you know October is "denim" month, the time when most people buy denim. Second, I am always looking for fun things to do on the weekends, especially in Fall when the weather is still nice. How do these two things have anything in common? This weekend marks the beginning of October and New York is having a festival called Denim Days. It is two days packed with shopping, music, art and food. Designer brands will be there with interactive displays. Japanese indigo dyer, Sayaka Toyama will be creating dyed works. BLKSMTH: Loren Cronk will be creating sellable works with his chain stitch machine. Denimrepair.com will repair jeans on site. Book signings by Amy Leverton and Piero Turk

White Shorts In The Fall!?

I am far from complaining I love Summer weather to last hear on the East coast as long as possible. This weekend I was at the beach for the first day of Fall in 80 degree weather. Back to work on Monday it was still warm, so I will take advantage as much as I can and wear shorts in the Fall. If you pair them, with a flowy top and chunky heels it can work perfect for a casual day. #Dawn #Fashion #Style #Outfit #OOTD

A Pasta Bar In Soho

So I swear if I was a guy I would know all the places to take a girl. This decadent pasta place I found called Sola is perfect and not too much for a first date. I almost walked right past this cute pasta bar in Soho while I was ironically looking for somewhere to eat after a work meeting. It was a real nice night just warm enough for the doors to be open, which made sitting at the bar a ideal setting. The menu is easy and simple to choose from. It is an open kitchen, to watch as the chef's prepare every meal, I love that. I had a pesto but all the pastas as I watched looked delicious. I had a prosecco and watched my dish being made. They served it up hot, and my Italian pasta eating roots

Miracle Berry Makes All Food Taste Sweet

I meet so many amazing people in my industry. Over social media I met the owners of PlantOGram.com, Vernic and her husband have an incredible business sending plants as gifts. She was telling me about different plants and brought up the "Miracle" berry. She said you must try it. It makes whatever you eat, taste sweet, even a lemon. This had my mind buzzing about how cool it would be for some one who craves sugar to have the taste without out the actual sugar. The berry plant has been known about for many years but with the sugar cane industry being so big, they kept it quiet. As this often happens with most products that can do good naturally. I have yet to try it but promise to write more a

Fresh Tomato and Parsley Sunday Sauce

I love fresh tomatoes especially in the Summer. They are so juicy and sweet. Being Italian, Sunday sauce is almost always made. I like to keep it simple and quick sometimes with an easy fresh sauce. It can be whipped up in under 30 minutes and tastes delicious with grated parm cheese! Here is the recipe. 6-8 Vine Ripe Organic Tomatoes (firm) Large Chopped Olive Oil 1 lb Gemelli Pasta 1/2 cup Chopped Fresh Parsley Pinch of Salt In a saute pan heat 2 tbsp olive oil add chopped tomatoes and salt. Saute over medium heat for 15 minutes stirring to prevent sticking. Lower heat to low and cook 10 minutes until soft and bubbling. Add Parsley and stir gently. Stir in cooked pasta and drizzle with a t

NYFW {Cindy Monteiro}

Using stunning natural materials like shells and beads designer Cindy Monteiro took us on a mini island vacation. This was amazingly her very first New York Fashion Week and first visit ever to the United States. Models walked barefoot while tropical beats played. Linen and raffia were used for the body-hugging pieces. The collection, named Bernadina is full of hand painted work done by Monteiro herself and made of natural materials like cotton line, jute line and embellished with shells and sugar cane. Although new to NYFW she has shown at Paris fashion week. #fashion #nyfw #nyfwspring2018 #cindymonteiro

Enjoying A Little Tennis at the US Open

I don't watch many sports. I like a good baseball or soccer game every once and a while, but I must admit I get distracted quickly. Tennis is more my thing. After attending the US Open a few years ago, it sparkled an interest in me. I have been going ever since. The atmosphere at Arthur Ashe Stadium is much different compared to other sports arenas. I of course don't love the drive to get there but once inside it is lovely. Dare I say the Moet champagne stand always gets me. The food options are a touch more upscale than the typical hot dogs and chicken fingers at games ( I will not go near them). Midway through watching the matches, this time. I found a Dean and Deluca to get a soft salted

Summit House

I have been to The Summit House in Summit, New Jersey a few times now. It never fails to delight. Starting with the most precious salt and pepper dispensers on the table, its the little things. Service is exceptional and the food wonderful. The menu does change to keep it fresh but certain items stay longer than others. I had the nicest piece of pan roasted halibut over quinoa one time and fresh broiled lobster more recently. They took the lobster out of the shell with is my kind of place and served it simply with a garlic butter and grilled lemons. For an appetizer I tried the cucumber salad which had fried chickpeas. I wanted an entire bowl of those to snack on. We also tried the burrata i
